Carling Technologies Ground Fault Circuit Breaker Performs Regardless of Exposure Heat or Cold

Carling Technologies introduced the .01-30 Amp, PB-series to the marketplace in previously and now is releasing  a new addition to Carling¿s ground fault circuit breaker product portfolio - The 1-50 Amp, PC-series.

Like the PB-series, the new PC-series is available with a rocker, or toggle style actuation and utilizes the hydraulic/magnetic principle, which provides precise circuit protection operation and performance even when exposed to extremely hot and/or cold application environments. Both the PB-series and PC-series are compact and fully integrated devices combining ground fault protection with over-current tripping characteristics of a circuit breaker. The PC-series comes with LED indicators that illuminate to distinguish if the breaker is closed with line voltage present, or has opened due to a leakage current, or has opened due to over current, or is closed with no line voltage present. In addition, there is an optional feature that detects L/N reversal.

Boat builders/manufacturers abiding to the rules and regulations published by the AMERICAN BOAT & YACHT COUNCIL are required to design-in, and install ground fault circuit protection devices within their boats on, or before July 31, 2010. Based on this new regulation, Carling urges you to visit all of the boat builders within your territory and introduce the PC-series, and reintroduce the PB-series to them. These two products can be used with portable generator applications as well.

Here are a couple of important and specific technical facts you should be familiar with before making your sales call within the marine market:

  • The PB-series and PC series products conform to, and meet the requirements of the ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) standard E-11, Section 11.11 regarding 30mA and 5mA ELCI/GFCI devices
  • The 30mA, PB-series and PC-series configuration will trip in < 100mS when sensing leakage current, as specifically required by the ABYC, standard E-11.11
