Molex's MicroCross(tm) ADD2 Cards Offer Low-Cost, Digital Visual Interface Solution

The new MicroCross(tm) Advanced Digital Display 2 (ADD2) Cards from Molex® Incorporated offer an easy and cost-effective solution for a compatible Digital Visual Interface (DVI) interconnection. By simply inserting an ADD2 card into the graphics controller of any Intel® 915G-equipped motherboard or high-end PC with a vacant PCI Express* (PCIe) 16X slot port, users can seamlessly connect to a DVI digital display. The system will automatically load the MicroCross ADD2 card configuration, which is stored in a serial Electrical Erasable Programmable Memory (EEPROM) device.

The MicroCross ADD2 cards are well-suited for desktop PC integrators, motherboard and ATM system manufacturers, as well as a variety of medical and kiosk applications. These small-sized boards offer dual monitor capability, allowing for increased design flexibility. They are also offered in versions to support two different Intel chassis architectures - the ADD2-N (non-lane reversed) for ATX systems and the ADD2-R (lane-reversed) for BTX systems. Both card versions mate with MicroCross DVI-D receptacles and are available with a standard or low-profile PCIe bracket to provide an option according to the customer's chassis style.

"As a leading manufacturer of integrated products, Molex is constantly searching for ways to meet industry needs," said Julián Ladrón de Guevara Giraudo, associate product manager, Molex Incorporated. "With the MicroCross ADD2 Cards, Molex developed a solution that allows customers to easily achieve a DVI connection, while still maintaining costs."

The MicroCross ADD2 Cards ensure full hardware and software compatibility by supporting a full-range of digital display resolutions. These include Video Graphics Array (VGA), which is the standard for PCs and provides a resolution of 720-by-400 pixels, and the Ultra Extended Graphics Array (UXGA), which is capable of displaying 1600-by-1200 pixel resolution. The MicroCross ADD2 Cards are also compatible with digital projectors, flat-panel displays and digital Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs).

The Molex MicroCross ADD2 DVI Card offers design flexibility and an affordable cost. Lead-time for small quantities is four weeks, and eight to 10 weeks for standard orders.
