New Inlet Module Combines Switch and Circuit Breaker, Cuts Installation Time 66 Percent
E-T-A Circuit Breakers announces their new 3130 Inlet Module, combining in a single component
the functions of overload protection, power inlet, and on/off switch. Design engineers can use the
3130 Inlet Module to reduce the number of components in their designs, reducing installation time by
66 percent.
Available in current ratings from 0.1A to 16A up to AC 250V, the new solution provides protection
against short circuits and potentially harmful overload currents. The 3130 Inlet Module was designed
for office and computer equipment, power strips, medical and laboratory equipment, and high-end
consumer appliances.
The 2-pole, thermal circuit breaker includes an ergonomically styled rocker actuator available in
a range of colors. Optional rocker illumination indicates if the circuit power is on.
The 3130 Inlet Module costs less than the total cost of a separate circuit breaker, switch, inlet
components, and mounting hardware. In addition, installation of the single snap-in module is three
times faster than the installation of three separate components.
The 3130 Inlet Module makes it cost effective to design in circuit-breaker protection instead of
fuse-based protection. Circuit breakers have many advantages over fuses. Circuit breakers are
resettable, switchable and eliminate the risk of improper fuse replacement. Unlike fuse manufacturers,
E-T-A tests each individual circuit protection product before it leaves the factory - providing
assurance that the 3130 Inlet Module will perform in the field.
The 3130 Inlet Module has an outer frame dimension of 1.18" x 2.56", and fits into a panel cutout
of 1.08" x 2.32" and 0.98" panel thickness. Interrupting capacity is 3500A at AC 250V.
