On Saturday, November 17, 2012, a team from Sager Electronics participated in the Milton 5K Gobbler for Best Buddies of Massachusetts. The hilly, 3.1 mile scenic road race was the backdrop to raise funds for the local chapter of the nonprofit organization. Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In Sager's inaugural outing in 2011, the team proudly took home the Golden Turkey top fundraiser award. Team Captain Paul Kopp and Team Sager's thirty plus members were determined to achieve a repeat performance. Soliciting funds up until race time, Team Sager won the 2012 coveted Golden Turkey for top corporate fundraiser for the second year in a row. Making the victory even sweeter, Team Sager's own Pam Berigan raised over $1,600 to win her own Golden Turkey as top individual fundraiser.
Altogether, Team Sager raised over $5,600, and the Milton 5k Gobbler and its record-breaking 575 runners and walkers raised over $36,000. The funds raised in the Milton 5K Gobbler will be used in the expansion of Best Buddies programs throughout Massachusetts.
